São Martinho is a picturesque parish located on the southwestern coast of Madeira, known for its stunning cliffs, beautiful beaches, and vibrant cultural life. The parish is home to popular attractions such as the Praia Formosa beach, the Cabo Girão Skywalk, and charming villages like Câmara de Lobos. São Martinho offers a mix of natural beauty, outdoor activities, and local traditions, making it a must-visit destination in Madeira.
Although construction of this beautiful church began in the 18th century, it took over 150 years to complete the work and its size had to be adjusted to accommodate the growing population of Funchal. It was finally inaugurated in 1918. Its main attraction is a triptych portraying scenes of the Annunciation, the Nativity and Saint Anne and Saint Joachim.
