Australia is a hamlet in the Matananzas region of Cuba. Apparently the name means Southern place and it was the southern-most sugar mill on the old railway line.
Most of Cuba is understanbly run down and Australia is run down by Cuban standards and there is not a lot here. You probably would not come to visit but would pass through on the way out to the Bay Of Pigs. Once you get here though it is worth a stop to look at the old Locomotives they keep here.
